U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 4/4/2024

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 413,300 pieces for 2024 were up 61 percent from the previous week and 32 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (251,100 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 13,500 pieces), Brazil (48,800 whole cattle hides), Mexico (44,300 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 1,400 pieces), Thailand (33,400 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 8,800 pieces), and South Korea (26,200 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 1,200 pieces), were offset by reductions for Belgium (2,900 pieces) and Vietnam (2,000 pieces). Total net sales of 500 calf skins were for Italy, including decreases of 500 calf skins. In addition, total net sales of 2,900 kip skins were for Belgium. Exports of 379,700 pieces were up 27 percent from the previous week and 6 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides exports were primarily to China (255,100 pieces), South Korea (29,700 pieces), Mexico (29,300 pieces), Thailand (25,600 pieces), and Brazil (17,200 pieces). Exports of 7,000 calf skins were to Italy. In addition, exports of 2,500 kip skins were to Belgium.  

Net sales of 70,300 wet blues for 2024 were up 36 percent from the previous week, but down 51 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Italy (25,800 grain splits and 4,100 unsplit, including decreases of 100 unsplit), Vietnam (19,300 unsplit), Thailand (18,000 unsplit), China (2,500 unsplit), and Paraguay (900 unsplit), were offset by reductions for Brazil (100 grain splits), Hong Kong (100 unsplit), and Taiwan (100 unsplit). Total net sales reductions of 1,000 unsplit for 2025 were for Italy. Exports of 139,100 wet blues were up 17 percent from the previous week and 6 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Vietnam (54,700 unsplit), Italy (27,000 unsplit and 1,500 grain splits), China (23,100 unsplit), Thailand (12,300 unsplit), and Hong Kong (11,900 unsplit). Total net sales reductions of 1,500 splits were for Vietnam. Exports of 41,900 splits were to Vietnam.
